In June 2008,
in issue 17 of Xclusive Magazine, we profiled 50 Most Outstanding Africans in Ireland, the who-is-who, the shakers and movers of events.
We are the first Ireland's African magazine to do so. Our mission then was to honour and celebrate Africans in Ireland who had done
extraordinary things in 2007. They came from all walks of life: advocacy, arts, banking, beauty, law, media, medicine, music, sports . . .
Three years after, we have returned with the same mission, but this time with a slightly different focus and significantly enlarged
parameters, the reason why many who made our 2008 list fell off our radar. We have also narrowed it down to just three categories
of Ireland's African people who matter: the very powerful (African men who combine influence with power), the most influential
(African women who make things move) and the big deals (African men and women who have provoked debate with immense talent and
creativity). And these three categories are grouped together in one phrase: “Ireland's African Super Powers!”
Loreto Molapo, popularly known as Lira, is a mult-platinum selling South African singer and songwriter,
and arguably the hottest music star in Africa right now. In 2003, Lira released her debut album, All My Love, and the title track
became the most played South African song on radio. Since then she has never looked back: three more albums and a multitude of
Awards that include South African Music Awards (SAMAs), MTV African Awards, MOJO Awards and Glamour Magazine's Woman of the Year.
Is there anything else left for Lira to conquer in Africa, music wise? Certainly not, hence the need to seek for new and bigger
challenge - to conquer America and go on to take on the world. In “Lira: Multi-Platinium selling South African Singer is
set to conquer America” we engage Lira about family life, the essence of her music, and her new challenge.
