“The illiterates are not people who are unable to express themselves: they are simply people unable to express themselves in a
particular language.” -Augusto Boal "Theatre of the Oppressed”
On 11 September 2010, at the Crowne Plaza, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15,
Eunice Adom was crowned Miss Ghana Ireland 2010. But conspicuously absent at the glamorous event was Jennifer Dsane, the Miss Ghana
Ireland 2009. Why was she absent? What happened behind the scene that escalated the crisis onto Facebook? What have alcohol,
unredeemed prizes and private family feud got to do with this? We have all the answers in our cover story, “Miss Ghana Ireland
in Crisis: the lies, the blackmail and intrigues.” It is investigative journalism at its best!
On 1 October 2010, Nigerians in Ireland, and indeed in Nigeria and other parts of the world,
celebrated Nigerian Golden Jubilee. That day marked Nigeria's fifty years as an independent and sovereign nation. Xclusive Magazine
attended the events that matter to capture the style, the glamour and the panache of the celebrations. What you didn't see in our
special feature, “Nigeria @50: how Nigerians celebrated Nigeria's Golden Jubilee”, never took place in Ireland because no one
covers it like we do.
Meiway, the zoblazo king, one of the biggest and most influential musicians out of Africa
speaks xclusively to Xclusive Magazine. He talks about his music career, the influence of Ivorian tradition
in his music, his love for women (well, as fans), his philosophy of life and many more. “Meiway, the Zoblazo King” is an
interview you will never want to miss.
There are also our regulars on Entertainment, Fashion and Lifestyle: “All About Style” that caters
for your fashion, beauty and style needs. “Agony Aunt” that provides answers to all you need to know about love and relationship,
“Campus Blues”, anchored by our newest columnist, Daniella Nzekwe, critiques the lifestyle of the young and impressionable.
Daniella is studying English and Creative writing at Brunel University, Uxbridge, West London. All of these and more for
your reading pleasure!
Thank you so much, our loyal readers, for your patronage and goodwill. We are where we are
today because you have stood and continue to stand by us (and also because God is with us). You were there in our very
humble beginning to our meteoric rise as the first and only African magazine to break into the Irish mainstream media
market, the only African magazine ever to make it into Eason's, the largest wholesale distributor in Ireland (the
equivalent of W. H Smiths in the UK), competing on the shelves with big brand names like VIP, Hello, Ok and Times
Magazine. We are humbled by this and many of our other record-breaking achievements ...
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
