Publisher's Intro'

"Positive thinking is realistic thinking. It always sees the negative, but it doesn’t dwell on the negative and nurture it,
letting it dominate the mind.” -Norman Vincent Peale In God We Trust
The gong, the glamour, the red-carpet, the Xclusive Awards!
We did it last year; we’ve done it again this year, precisely on 31 May 2008 at the prestigious Park Plaza hotel, Tyrrelstown,
Dublin 15, and by the grace of God, let's do it again next year. The award theme this year was, “Come let's spoil you a little,”
and we kept to our promise: red-carpet reception, dinner, Comedy, Fashion show….Attended by crème de la crème of the African community
in Ireland, Xclusive Awards has now gained reputation as the most classy and stylish event for Africans in Ireland by a million mile…
And the Person of the Year 2008 is…Yemisi Ojo! Who is she? What does she do? And how does she do it. A
Few days after the Awards we met up for an interview and she revealed all. It is incisive and very detailed. You will find it very,
very interesting.
On Monday, 30 June 2008, the new Nigeria Ambassador to Ireland, Dr. (Mrs) Kemafo Nonyerem “Kema” Chikwe,
presented her credentials to Mary McAleese, the president of Ireland. It was followed by a grand reception for her at the luxurious
Four Seasons hotel. I was there and so were many other notable personalities from the African community in Ireland and the diplomatic
circles. We have all the details and xclusive photos of who and who were there inside the pages.
Some people think it’s fashionable to be single. They argue that it gives them the freedom to do what
they like: go clubbing whenever you want, wear what you want, even lay who you want. Others say they missed the point; nothing gives
more stability and security like marriage: having someone there all the time to laugh with and cry with should be the dream of every
human being. Our Talking Point (yeah, that’s the new name of our Vox Pox section) is: “Married vs Single: who is living a happier life?”
And there are our regulars: Agony Aunt, Out of Africa, Kiddies Zone, All About Style, Dispatches….Welcome
on board, Uchenna Onyenagubo, who debuts in this edition with a column on information technology. With six years experience
