Publisher's Intro'
"Whatever you are from nature, keep to it; never desert your own line of talent...Be what Nature intended you for, and
you will succeed.” -Sydney Smith The Way to Succeed.
Don’t judge a book by its cover, so goes a very popular saying. But
not many of us believe in this
saying, anyway. Or may be we believe only when it has to do with a book, not with human beings: with a human being it is a different
ball game. Do you sometimes wonder why most women claim that they can tell a stingy man by just the smell of his clothes? Or why nearly
everyman thinks he has the ability to pick the tell-tale sign of a promiscuous girl simply by the manner of her strides? This month’s
cover story, “First Encounter. First Impression…”looks at how good we are as a judge of human character.
Talking about human character. Zeal is the hot one, very hot. Tunde is quiet, intelligently quiet.
Shifi is in-between the two, he brings a balance that creates the unique brand of African most successful R&B band. And as a group
Styl-Plus are the most honest lads I have ever interviewed. I asked for the truth and they went for it, eschewing those clichés that
are the hallmark of celebrity interviews. This xclusive interview with them was conducted at different times and places, from Dublin
to Waterford, and over a period of three days. It is highly revealing…!
Xclusive Magazine was a year in March and on 5 May 2007 we are rolling out the drums to celebrate.
And as part of the anniversary celebration we have initiated a yearly Xclusive Awards to encourage initiatives and practices that rub
positively on the lives of Africans in Ireland and to draw national attention to the importance of supporting and promoting under-served
black enterprise and lifestyle.
The themes of the Xclusive Awards are style, class, panache, elegance, sophistication, vision….
Everything, I mean everything, has been carefully chosen to reflect the Awards thematic colouring: the venue is the 4-star Gresham
Hotel, a breath-taking architectural piece that is a successful mix of the traditional styles of The Gresham with the contemporary
style of the 21st Century. The Awards trophies, elegant, sophisticated and stylish single Acrylic Shooting Stars, taken from the
"Super Star Series", were designed and customised by Chicago Trophy in Illinios, USA. The dress code for the night, simply put,
is imperial elegance. Hey, stop cracking your brain! We are only calling style another name. And there is a four course meal: starters,
main course, deserts and Tea / Coffee, all expenses paid by our sponsors: Western Union, Emerge, A-R consult, PostNet, Larmints Paylink,
Afri-Cargo International, Blanchardstown Area Partnership and Jus2Figo…and with a little help from our friends: Chief Tony Ijeh, Prince Charles
Jiduwah, Dennis Ogosi and Olayinka Layokun…
Com’on, let’s celebrate… xclusively!

Styl-Plus:
may read like a book on Boyz II Men. But Styl-Plus is not Boyz II Men. Styl-Plus is Styl-Plus. They are African. They are our own. And their unique style
of R&B is garnished with an authentic African beat. |
