Publisher's Intro'
"There will never be another now - I’ll make the most of today. There will never be another me - I’ll make
the most of myself.” -Robert Schuller Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do.
Do they know it’s New Year?
My brothers in Burundi, the refugees in Mogadishu, the infants in Darfur, trapped in the
death-pangs of hunger and war. Do they know it's New Year? The homeless in my continent: the beggars in the street of
yeovil, the under-bridge dwellers in Ojuelegba, the scavengers of leftovers in the dustbin of Bulawayo. Do they know
it's New Year? The poor, the hungry, the dying, the terminally ill, the deported, the soon-to-be-deported, my African
brothers, my sisters, my own. Do any of these people know it's already a New Year?
So in this month's cover story, “Make A Wish…What Do You Wish For This New Year: Love?
Health? Prosperity?”, you will not hear only the voices of those who are privileged. You will also hear the collective
voices of an embattled continent. This is because our Africanness is not about me; it is about us. And it is in this
spirit of collective consciousness that I make this resolution: for each copy of Xclusive magazine that is sold
this 2007 I will give 40cent to an African-oriented charity. And For every advert you place in Xclusive Magazine in 2007
I will give €20 to an African-oriented charity. May we all find the heart and the will to make good our New Year resolutions!
Still in the spirit of the new season, we have a line up of a specially packaged edition
to lighten up your New Year mood. I am very sure that “3 Secrets To Keep Him Coming Back For More” and “How To Catch A
Cheating Husband” will be every woman’s delight, a must read. We also have an extensive interview with Kanayo O.
Kanayo, the 2006 African Actor of the year. And another interview with Mandu Ekong-Omaghomi on “Xclusive People”.
The Nigerian Ambassador has never been so open and so personal to any media. We must be doing the right thing.
27 January is a very special day. It's my birthday! So let's pour libation, the African way.
Let's pray to our ancestors for guidance. Like this: bless me, wise one. Bless my day. Bless my night. Bless my beak.
Bless my song. Isé. Let me not plant cassava and reap yam. Let me not sow love and have hate for harvest. But Let
the measure I give not be the measure that I take, for a seed of corn goes to the farm and returns filling a barn.
Isé. Who can cut through water? May my enemies stumble and scatter. For he who pursues a fowl owns a fall, and
the fowl owns a galloping race for its life… Isé. Isé bu oji.
Compliments of the season!

Kanayo O. Kanayo:
It is a vintage Kanayo O. Kanayo. The mass communicator, the philosopher, the learned and a man who, even in the eyes of the very critical Nigerian
press, can do no wrong. |

Amb. Ekong-Omaghomi:
She is not the most liked Nigerian in Ireland, with the “€400 for passport” still fresh in everyone's memory. But the Nigeria Ambassador is
every inch human. |
