Publisher's Intro'

"Whatever the mind can conceive and believe…it can achieve" -Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich.

In February this year I met this lady, let's just call her Ms D, who Peter Anny-Nzekwue was so paranoid about having her photo appear in a magazine that she declined to air her views on Cheating Spouses. Lady D's fear, she explained to me, is that celebrity terms like "Big Girls" and "Big Boys" have been abused in junk magazines that they now generate negative connotations. I've begun this intro' with a reference to that dramatic encounter with Lady D because it provides a backdrop for distinguishing Xclusive Magazine from junk magazines.
So what is Xclusive? Yes, it is a celebrity magazine. But it celebrates the successes and fame of prominent black people and affirms Ireland's multicultural life. We define "prominent" as people with creativity, highly respected by their peers and have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers. It is our hope that with Xclusive Magazine people like lady D will be able to differentiate the magazines that celebrate excellence from the despicable ones that glorify notoriety.
We kick off this month edition with a cover story on Cheating Spouses. Unlike that US popular programme on Reality TV, Xclusive Magazine has not set out to "name and shame" cheaters. Rather, in its characteristic vox pop manner, it seeks the views of credible people from all walks of life, with the hope that we all may learn a lesson or two on how to be faithful spouses. There is also the xclusive coverage of the book presentation to President Mary McAleese by the authentic African "Big Girls". Yeah, you've to be big to wine and dine with the Irish President. We also have an interview with, Rita Dominic, arguably the sexiest actress in Africa. There are many more on health, sports, food, etc. Whatever your tastes and preferences, I'm sure there is something for you in the inside pages.
I will sign off with a big "thank you" to all the special people who joined hands with me to make this magazine a reality, especially to Peter Oghina, for his selfless commitment and his strong faith in my ability to do this; to my brother by divine intervention, Jason O'Toole, for facilitating important contacts that would've been impossible with my limited reach and resources; to Tom Prendeville, for his beautiful piece on this magazine in The Evening Herald when Xclusive was still at the gestation period; and to Gomgom, for being such a perfect wife to an imperfect husband like me…I dedicate this maiden edition to this wonderful woman and our four lovely kids.
